Exeltur against massive construction

Exeltur - the lobby for the principal tourist companies in Spain, has issued a stern warning against the unlimited urbanistic growth along the coasts and on the islands of Spain. They maintain that the accelerated construction of residential dwellings is untenable for economic, laboral and environment reasons, point to the fact that the present plans could triple the present number of dwellings, and warn that this could ruin the Spanish tourist market.

The organisation demands new legislation to prevent the tourist letting of residential property.

The national government, as well as the Junta de Andalucia, are preparing legislation and administrative measures to prevent the tourist letting of apartments and houses that have not been planned for this purpose.

Foreign property buyers and owners should take notice.
